Why I want to be a domestic goddess

Food is important, especially to me.

It is not just the notion of stuffing your face, but everything that comes with food. Food brings people together, a social norm for socialising and marking special occasions. Coming from a large extended family, spreading across the country, food was always on the agenda.

My passion for food is similar to many of those that share the same passion, from those that have gone before them. For me, it is my grandmother that sparked this obsession in my life. My earliest memory of food form the soul being shared with loved ones stems from my grandmothers kitchen. She taught me everything there is no know about good honest food, and for what she never taught me, there is always Nigella.

Nigella Lawson provides me with an abundance of inspiration in the kitchen. She has no professional training, and has perfected everything she knows from cookbooks and ancestors. Much like myself, she cooks for the ones she loves which shines through in her food. It is good, honest food, never out of the capabilities of an amateur cook. She does’t believe in fancy methods and kitchen appliances, she cooks for the people.

Being a full time bank lender and part time student, time can sometimes get away from me and there isn’t always time to cook for my loved ones. When those time comes around, any excuse to get out and explore what Perth’s culinary world has to offer will do! I enjoy visiting different nooks in the Perth food scene to check out what is new in the world of food. It is through exploring new delights, I am able to develop my taste buds and culinary skills to help bring my loved ones together.

My food is a working progress, so watch this space.
